The once common belief that “ambient lighting is merely a static decorative feature” is now outdated in the automotive industry. Today, the market has begun to recognize that “simple static decoration does not qualify as true ambient lighting. Real ambient lighting should be capable of interacting with other modules, actively adjusting the cabin atmosphere to create a real-time, dynamic smart cockpit.”
So, how does ambient lighting interact with other modules?
Integration with DMS: Utilizing DMS cameras and 4D millimeter-wave radar to monitor the driver’s condition and capture facial micro-expressions. After receiving this information, ambient lighting can not only trigger full-cabin red flashing alerts when driver fatigue is detected but also proactively adjust to corresponding shades like warm orange or light blue based on the driver’s happy or subdued emotional state.
Integration with Voice Assistant: While recognizing literal voice commands, the in-car voice interaction engine can also interpret emotions from the user’s tone, speech rate, and pitch. Upon receiving corresponding emotional cues, ambient lighting actively adjusts the cabin atmosphere to modes such as leisure or focus.
Integration with In-Cabin Biometric Monitoring: Sensors such as ECG (electrocardiogram) and GSR (galvanic skin response) integrated into the steering wheel and seats can unobtrusively and continuously monitor key indicators like heart rate variability (HRV) and stress levels. With access to real-time physiological data, ambient lighting can switch to soothing green to alleviate high stress or shift to vibrant orange during states of relaxation and joy.
We provide not just hardware but an ambient lighting interaction solution capable of sensing in-cabin conditions and automatically adjusting the atmosphere, giving the cockpit the ability to perceive emotions. Beyond what we’ve discussed, what other deeper vehicle data or external ecosystems do you think ambient lighting could integrate with? We look forward to exchanging ideas with industry peers and users!
